eLearning Essentials in Literacy and Numeracy
This workshop unpacks the most important eLearning elements that every CRT must know to
maximise student elearning opportunities in Literacy and Numeracy. This includes:
Understanding the latest eLearning trends and terminology especially within DEECD e.g.
Ultranet; EduSTAR; Wiki; Blog; Twitter; Backchannel; Web 2.0; Cloud computing;
Simple and effective eLearning ideas using common software to get you started in literacy and
numeracy;
Accessing the most relevant Web 2.0 tools that can be used safely and easily to improve
collaboration, thinking and reflection within 1:1 notebook classrooms and classrooms with
limited ICT resources;
Successful planning for eLearning using the CRT eSurvival Matrix.

Developing literacy and numeracy skills through extraordinary eTools
eTools enhance learning and provide exciting opportunities to motivate students to participate in
authentic activities. This workshop will allow you to discover the exciting world of eTools and the
most common types used in schools through the magic of digital story telling, digital portfolios and
multimedia presentations. All participants will have hands-on experiences with current eTools
including iPads, iPods, Digital Cameras, Video Cameras and Sound Recorders.
Participants will also be shown how to integrate these tools within literacy and numeracy sessions
and learn valuable skills in troubleshooting, connectivity, file types, file conversion and simple
editing techniques.
