ENGAGEMENT THROUGH LITERACY – DAY 1 - READING COMPREHENSION
A Professional Development Program for CRTs working in Primary Schools
CRTs, don’t miss out on this exciting new professional development opportunity designed to develop your knowledge and skills in teaching reading comprehension. The day will run from 9.00am – 3.00pm and is jam packed with practical methods for teaching strategies such as visualizing, inferring, making connections, summarizing and activating prior knowledge. Learn how to explicitly teach these strategies through big books, read alouds and fun games and activities. Engage your students through small group activities and use these comprehension activities to motivate students from Prep – Year 6.  Students and teachers will beg for you to return after you introduce these reading strategies.
Bring along your favourite books and learn new and exciting strategies to use with them.

Presenter:  Margaret Menner

Margaret has a Masters of Education – Literacy and is also a Reading Recovery teacher.  She has lectured at university and since 1999 has provided literacy professional development throughout Australia the United States and Asia.  Margaret has worked extensively with teachers to help them develop the skills and knowledge to improve literacy outcomes for students.

Participant numbers are limited to 30 so be quick to book in.
